Tenants

Tenant Participation

Tenant Participation is a two-way process involving the sharing of ideas and information to allow tenants to help make decisions about the services we provide.  We want as many tenants as possible to get involved.

We have developed a new Tenant Participation Strategy.  The strategy includes a 'menu of participation' which outlines the various ways in which individuals and groups can get involved.  Our leaflet, An Introduction to Tenant Participation explains more.

Cairn in the Park 2012

Our tenants' conference was a great success with 58 tenants gathering at the Alona Hotel in Strathclyde Country Park on October 5th.  Our Conference Report provides full details of the event.

Customer Focus Reports

Our Customer Focus Reports aim to provide tenants, staff and our Committee of Management with information and evidence on our performance in customer care.  In this document, which we aim to produce quarterly, you can find reports on tenant participation, customer research and satisfaction surveys, anti-social behaviour and complaints, compliments and suggestions.

Registered Tenant Organisations

You could become involved with an existing Tenants' Group.  If there isn't a group nearby, you could consider setting one up.  Our leaflet, How to Set Up Your Own Tenants' Group, has more information and up to date figures on start-up grants are available here.

Register of Interested Tenants

If you don't want to be involved in a group, but still want to be active in Cairn HA's service provision, you can join our "Register of Interested Tenants".  If your name is on the register we may contact you as part of our consultation on policies or to invite you to events.  Your participation is voluntary and confidentialIf you would like to become an Interested Tenant Contact Us for more details.

Focus Groups

Our North Area Customer Focus Group meets quarterly in our Inverness Office to discuss various issues about Cairn Housing Association.  We have also estabilshed a group for disabled tenants which aims to work with Cairn to ensure services provided are appropriate to disabled tenants and a HomeWorks Repairs Focus Group to work with us to develop our new in-house repairs service.  To add your name to the mailing list for any of these groups please contact the Inverness Office.

Following our first tenants' conference, Cairn in the Park, we have formed a Customer Focus Group for the central belt and south of Scotland.  To add your name to the mailing list please contact us.

Dates for future meetings and minutes of previous meetings are available on our Focus Groups page.

Getting Involved Online

We aim to use our website to keep customers informed about opportunities where they can offer feedback on draft strategies and policies.  Visit our current consultations page to see if there are any consultations open now.  Once we've received your feedback and analysed the results we'll post feedback on the feedback on previous consultation and events page.

Communications Group

We have formed a tenants' Communications Group.  The Group was formed to ensure that our major letters, leaflets and newsletters are written in plain English, well designed, easy to read and informative.  This group is run entirely by email and if you would like to get involved please contact us

Training for tenants

Cairn has joined the Housing E-academy and we are now offering our tenants and residents a range of specifically designed courses through the internet.  For more information please visit our Tenant Training page.

Registered Tenant Organisations are invited to an annual training and planning day.  Additional training may be provided to groups where specific training needs have been identified.

Calendar of Participation and Events

The Association maintains a Calendar of Consultations and Events which provides details of consultations which are currently open and events we have planned for the future.  Please contact us if you want to register your interest in any forthcoming events or consultations.
