Average number of days to re-let properties
When a property is empty (void) we are unable to receive income for that property through rent and service charges. This means we have less money to spend on improving services and people’s homes. This is why it is important for us to re-let properties in the shortest time possible. Our aim is to re-let all properties within 14 days and this indicator tracks our average re-let time throughout the year.
Figures from March 2018.
A dip in performance for the month given the pressures previously outlined however our year end out-turn performance of 18.02 days is still positive and just outside our tolerance of 18.00 days. A report will be presented to the Board on a proposed void squad for the North given the increasing difficulty in using contractors for works from both a VFM and availability perspective.
The lack of available contractors is also being experienced by Highland Council housing department as the increase in activity in construction of new build houses to meet the governments new homes target starts to impact on resources in the area.
