Community Fund Project in:
We gave Police Scotland Youth Volunteers funding to hold a team building day. The group is run by a police constable and adult volunteers and is for young people aged between 13 and 18 years old. The aims of the group are to promote a positive understanding of policing among young people, encourage the spirit of adventure and good citizenship and to give young people a chance to be heard.
The group meet once a week and have been involved in a number of initiatives including giving local residents advice and information on house break-ins and bogus callers.
The group allows young people to form positive social networks. The wider community also benefits from the specific projects the group undertakes in promoting anti-crime and community safety measures. The team building event provides an opportunity to strengthen relationships within the group, develop individual confidence and contribute to the ongoing development of a successful youth initiative.
