We gave Frank Jack Court funding to turn a spare room at the court into an arts and craft room. The grant bought supplies, which all the tenants are welcome to use. The aim of the project is to bring tenants together and reduce isolation while working on projects that benefit the local community
A regular craft group meets in the arts and crafts room every Monday to share their skills while learning new ones. The group are proudly support several local organisations with their knitting and craft projects. Since their formation they have knitted hats, blankets and bonding squares for premature babies receiving care in maternity wards in Peterhead, Aberdeen and Dundee. They have also provided sensory ‘fiddle muffs’ which soothe anxiety and boredom for people living with dementia in local care homes. A second grant awarded to them by Cairn has enabled them to purchase further materials and equipment for these knitting initiatives.
The group prides itself on being open to all residents, regardless of experience or ability. In a supportive and friendly environment, residents enjoy experimenting with painting, drawing and collage creating. Other projects include making festive garlands, crafting Easter Egg Chick cosies and working on personal pieces of art.
ResidentWe are so pleased to have the funding to continue our work.
