The Larbert East Church of Scotland came up with a brilliant idea to bring two generations together in their Lets Read Together project. Pupils from the local primary school and tenants from Adam Grossert Court worked together to read, play and create crafts together over coffee and cakes! . The project ran every Friday afternoon for 10 weeks through the spring and summer. Encouraged by Marianne and Amanda, it was wonderful to see the close connections built between the residents and kids, increasing confidence for all involved. From a visit by the Zoo Lab, to a final get together on a boat trip, there was something for everyone. At the end of the project, everything learned lead to the creation of an illustrated booklet ‘The Seagull That Couldn’t Fly’ which celebrated the achievements of the group. Our residents loved seeing the young faces every week and became close over the weeks as they worked together. Hilda Ewinga, a resident within the court said, “I really enjoyed working with the children and learning new things together, it was fun!”. We look forward to the project continuing into 2019.
