We funded the Wick Allotments Association to create allotments at vacant land at North Murchison Street in Wick. The project will lead to the establishment of 10 allotment plots to encourage people to grow their own food. The project will also encompass a small community garden for use by the wider community. The money will also be used for buying tools and equipment to get the project up and running.
The impact of the project to participants will be healthier lifestyles by growing and eating their own food, increased outdoor physical activity, which is known to improve not only physical but mental health. There will also be an increased sense of community and a meeting point for local residents.
