Health and Safety Officer – 6 months Fixed Term Contract

Location:
We have offices in Edinburgh, Bellshill, Inverness and Irvine - the closest to you being classed as your place of work. Office-based staff are currently working from home and we are reviewing working arrangements to include home and hybrid working.
Salary:
The salary for this post is £29,613 to £37,016. Maximum entry point is £32,574 per annum dependent on qualifications and experience. All Salaries are currently under review and may be subject to change.
Work pattern:
Full time 34.5 hours per week

Cairn Housing Group is a national provider with nearly 4,000 units in management across Scotland.

We are looking for an experienced individual to fill an exciting role within our organisation on a 6 month Fixed Term basis, after which the post will be reviewed.

We require a Temporary Health and Safety Officer to work with the Health and Safety Manager to provide H&S advice and support throughout the organisation and to further develop and implement our H&S management systems.  Experience of setting up new systems for risk assessment, auditing and safe systems of work in a collaborative and supportive manner and / or of fire risk assessment and experience of ISO 45001 (or OHSAS 18001) are likely to be advantageous.

You will be keen to work collaboratively with staff of all levels and develop good relationships throughout the organisation to identify and reduce risks.  You will appreciate the importance of developing a strong H&S culture as well as ensuring H&S compliance.  Relevant sector experience including work in RSLs and / or of property repairs and maintenance services would be beneficial.

Due to the nature of the role there are a few things we require of you, you will need to hold a Full UK Driver’s licence with use of your own vehicle and will be willing and able to travel throughout Scotland (and periodically stay away from home) including at short notice.  You need to be Computer literate –use of Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel and internal systems are regularly required.

We currently follow all Covid-19 working practice guidance and as such, you may be required to work from home for some or all of the contract period.

A Basic Disclosure Scotland Scheme check is required.
