By law, we have to carry out electrical checks every five years in your home.
We will test wiring, switches and sockets to make sure they are safe. We will fix any faults that we find. We will also test smoke and fire detectors and replace if necessary.
To help us complete inspections in time, we have updated our Electrical Safety Policy and Procedure which means we will give reasonable notice of when your electrical check is due and work with you to arrange a suitable appointment.
We will follow our standard procedure to have this work completed. If we are unable to get access to your home after multiple attempts, our procedure allows us to force entry to complete the inspection.
Please be assured that forced entry is only used when absolutely necessary, and only after all reasonable steps have been taken to arrange access voluntarily.
What you need to know
- Our trained electrician will attend to carry out the electrical check efficiently.
- The visit should take two to four hours depending on the size of your home.
- Any identified repairs will be carried out at the time of the visit where possible, otherwise a follow-on appointment will be scheduled ASAP thereafter.
How you can help
- Please cooperate with scheduled appointments to avoid any inconvenience.
- Contact us promptly if the proposed date/time doesn’t work – we’re happy to arrange a suitable alternative.
- Keeping access smooth helps us all stay safe and compliant.
