We’ll soon be carrying out fire risk assessments in the communal areas of our general needs flats. The programme will run over the next six months, and you’ll receive a letter before any visit takes place in your block.
In the meantime, we’d like to share a reminder about fire safety in communal areas.
- Keep all escape routes clear at all times
- Do not leave large items such as mattresses, prams / buggies or furniture in communal areas
- Never store flammable materials in shared spaces
- Small items like doormats or plants are fine, but please make sure they don’t block walkways or create trip hazards
For safety reasons, the following must not be stored in communal areas:
- Mobility scooters
- Electric wheelchairs
- E-bikes
- E-scooters
Lithium batteries can catch fire quickly and burn intensely. Storing these items in shared areas increases the risk to everyone in the building.
If you have any fire safety concerns in your communal block, please get in touch and let us know.
