This vital service empowers older people and those living with disabilities to remain in the safety and comfort of their own homes, by providing necessary improvements and adaptations.
What is the Care & Repair Service?
Our Care & Repair Service is designed to assist homeowners and private renters who may be facing challenges due to age, disability, or long-term health conditions. We offer expert advice, practical assistance, and access to local authority grants to fund necessary repairs and adaptations. We completed 148 projects last year.
Empowering Independent Living
The Care & Repair Service plays a crucial role in ensuring that our clients can continue to live independently in their homes for as long as possible. Whether it’s installing a level access shower to prevent falls, fitting a stair lift for easy mobility between floors, or making broader accessibility adaptations, our service ensures that homes remain both functional and comfortable.
Real-Life Impact: A Case Study
Take, for example, the story of Margaret, a long-time resident of Inverness. After an accident she was concerned about her ability to remain in the home she has cherished for over a decade. She was struggling to get into her bath to shower and one of her kids had to come over to help her get in and out. Through our Care & Repair Service, we were able to install a walk-in shower. It has made a huge difference to her life, giving her the freedom she desperately required. Margaret is just one of many who have benefitted from the Care & Repair Service, and her story is a powerful testament to the impact that our work has on people’s lives.
