The Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust in Ardgay host The Community Food Stop to provide a dignified response to those living in poverty or insecurity, with a focus on promoting social inclusion and reducing loneliness. There was an opportunity for some of our tenants from Scotsburn Court to attend the restaurant to relax and make new friends. We awarded the Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust funding to organise and host the occasion.
Thanks to the Cairn Community Fund and the generosity of The Community Food Stop, our residents got to chat to new people and check out the salmon viewing platforms. On top of that, they were lucky enough to get some great food too.
Beverley Hill, the Project Officer from Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust and who organised the lunch, said “I would like to say a huge thank you to Cairn Housing Association, for funding this event. It was so nice for their retirement home tenants, who usually come to the Community Food Stop every Monday to meet the other café regulars and volunteers outwith the Food Stop setting. Everyone had a wonderful day and a special thank you also to Mac and Wild for providing a marvelous feast, for us all”.
A great day was had by all who attended the event and that’s exactly what we want. If you’d like to help those around you, find more information on the Cairn Community Fund or apply, please give us a call on 0800 990 3405 or visit the Community Fund page on our website.
