We were disappointed to learn that Our Power, a Scottish energy company that was set up with the backing of housing associations, has ceased to trade.
Ofgem has appointed Utilita Energy Limited to take on supplying Our Power’s domestic customers. This followed a competitive process run by Ofgem to get the best deal possible for customers.
Ofgem has reported that Utilita is offering Our Power’s customers a competitive tariff and will honour all outstanding credit balances, including money owed to both existing and former customers of Our Power.
Warm Home Discount customers who have already been approved by Our Power will continue to receive their payments from Utilita.
Utilita will absorb the costs of honouring customers’ credit balances and the migration of customers.
For all existing Our Power customers, energy supplies will continue as normal. Customers with prepayment tariffs can continue to top up their meters as they had done previously with Our Power. Customers are advised not to cancel their direct debits.
Customers of Our Power will likely have already been contacted by Utilita about the changes. If customers wish to switch providers, they should shop around to find the best tariff for them. Our Power customers will not be charged any exit fees if they decide to switch to another energy provider.
If you were an Our Power customer and have any questions, please contact Utilita on 0330 583 392. You can also find more information on Ofgem’s website.
