Our income team continues to do fantastic work helping our tenants. Over the last financial year they helped 494 tenants gain an additional £967,464 in income. This marks an increase in financial gains of over 50% this year.
As a result of high energy costs and increased food prices amid the wider cost-of-living crisis, more tenants than ever contacted us “just to check” what they were entitled to as they found their money wasn’t stretching as far as it usually does.
Over the last financial year, the team returned to face-to-face meetings with tenants while maintaining a flexible digital approach. This has worked well for tenants as the service can be adapted to best fit their needs.
The team have helped complete benefit claims, given advice on benefits and provided budgeting advice. Furniture and charity grants were applied for, food bank vouchers were given out and support was provided in other areas where tenants need a little more support to manage their tenancy. Tenants with school age children were also encouraged to apply for free school meals and clothing grants.
The team has provided a holistic approach to ensure tenants are supported with the financial crisis, fuel poverty and food insecurity. This help has proved invaluable to our customers in sustaining their tenancies.
